چکیده

Modern society strives for the development of sustainable processes that are aimed at meeting human needs while preserving environment. Membrane technologies satisfy all principles sustainability due to their advantages, such as cost-effectiveness, environmental friendliness, absence additional reagents and ease use compared traditional separation methods. In present work, novel green membranes based on sodium alginate (SA) modified by a FeBTC metal–organic framework were developed isopropanol dehydration using membrane process, pervaporation. Two kinds SA-FeBTC developed: (1) untreated (2) cross-linked with citric acid or phosphoric acid. The structural physicochemical properties studied spectroscopic techniques (FTIR NMR), microscopic methods (SEM AFM), thermogravimetric analysis swelling experiments. transport in pervaporation water–isopropanol mixtures. Based properties, 15 wt % was demonstrated be optimal content modifier SA matrix performance. A possessed mixture (12–100 water): 174–1584 g/(m2 h) permeation flux 99.99 water permeate.

Pervaporation dehydration of isopropanol-water mixtures using chitosan zeolite-a membranes

Pervaporation (PV) dehydration of isopropanol (IPA) using modified chitosan membranes was studied. The membranes were prepared from chitosan and were modified by using zeolite-A. Pre-weighed amount of zeolite-A was added into acidic solvent and stirred to produce homogeneous solution. Chitosan flakes were then added into the solution and stirred overnight. Various ratios of zeolite-A and chitos...

Fabrication of Crosslinkable Hollow Fiber Membranes for Pervaporation Dehydration

Integrally-skinned asymmetric Polyetherimide/Poly (vinyl alcohol) (PEI/PVA) hollow fber membranes for pervaporation dehydration were fabricated by non-solvent induced phase inversion. PVA inside the PEI matrix could be crosslinked to provide membrane performance stability during long term operation. The effects of different PEI/PVA blend ratio, external coagulant type and...

Removal of copper (II) from aqueous solutions by sodium alginate/hydroxy apatite hydrogel modified by Zeolite

The study presented in this article investigated the removal of copper ions from aqueous solutions by a synthetic hydrogel-forming adsorbent polymer based on sodium alginate (SA) and hydroxy apatite (HA) nanoparticles. The effect of adding Zeolite on the adsorption performance of this hydrogel was also investigated, and the optimum amount of Zeolite was determined by changing its quantity. The ...

Pervaporation Membranes for Biobutanol Production

Because of the emerging scarcity of oil resources and the demand for environmental protection, as a typical biofuel, biobutanol produced by biomass fermentation is critical for the development of renewable energy. Pervaporation is considered to be an attractive separation technology for both the recovery of butanol from fermentation broth and the dehydration of butanol from low-water content so...
